Evolution Project Reflection
This unit we learned about how species have evolved from single-celled organisms to complex, multi-cellular life. I learned a lot from this unit, but if I had to choose one thing I learned about the most, it would be patterns of evolution. I had no idea that there have been five mass extinctions in the past that have shaped life on earth; I only knew about the extinction of the dinosaurs. I also had no idea that species could independently evolve similar features due to similar evolutionary pressures, which is known as convergent evolution. I also learned a lot about my evolutionary history, like how primitive members of the genus homo, such as homo habilis and homo erectus may have evolved into homo sapiens. I enjoyed a lot about this unit, but most of all I enjoyed making my transitional species video because it involved a lot of STEM elements.
